My Works
Background
Here are my most important compositions and works of sound design.
At the heart of my music is always the story and the emotion it delivers. I've written a symphony & compositions for media music libraries, performed in bands and worked for games and films. Each work I've approached with dedication and care.
All the Wonder's We Still Have
"Lydia's Theme" (2020)
All the Wonders We Still Have was a 30-minute performance written as a thesis concert for my pop/jazz pianist studies.
Performed by the cinematic rock & traditional music ensemble Melymbrosia, the concert celebrates all the wonderful things on Earth that have not yet disappeared, while also pondering on the harmful effect humans have on the planet - and on themselves.
The video here is from the piece "Lydia's Theme".
The piece starts out soft, but grows into a majestic, oceanic tale of grandeur and glory.
Nychthemeron
Symphonic Poem (2021)
Featuring Heikki Kylkisalo & Tanja Oittinen
A 40 minute long Master's thesis composition. Written for a full orchestra, an ethnic ensemble including bagpipes and tin whistles, and electronic instruments such as synthesizer and distorted guitars. The symphonic work follows the flow of the day in five movements, starting from the darkness of midnight and ending in the tranquil hues of twilight.
The following is a short Scottish section from "Aamu", the second movement. It features the masterful and impactful Uillean pipes by Heikki Kylkisalo and the soft and awe-inspiring vocal harmonies and tin whistles by Tanja Oittinen.
Here and There
Music & Sound Design
Music for the film "Here and There" for Aberdeen University's Filmmaking Society, 2021.
The composition is based on harmonium and self-produced sound effects. The film is about how only the protagonist can't see the camera, but he can hear the sound effects, so he turns his head to listen each time the soft strings are sounded.
Melymbrosia – Wind in Your Hair
2020
Celtic rock
Besides the music, which mixed an Irish jig with a rock band, I wrote the lyrics to resemble a Scottish ballad.
Troll Winter
Velarium feat. Morag Johnston (2021)
Ve
Velarium is a composer collective in which I collaborate with a number of artists.
Inspired by the celtic tune "Gloomy Winter", my time in the Scotland culminated into this work. The highlight of the piece are Morag Johnston's violins that give it an authentic Scottish feel, while the rest of the music remains true to my Nordic roots.
This piece features instruments like gamelan and taiko drums.
Velarium - The Riddle ft Ina Myller
Orchestral Cover (2021)
An orchestral cover of Nik Kershaw's classic track "The Riddle", with a wonderful vocal performance by Ina Myller, who also sings in "Wind in Your Hair" by Melymbrosia.
This arrangement was a birthday present for my mother.
Faerie OST (2019)
Music, sound design & audio recording for a video game project at the University of Jyväskylä, Finland.
Jupiterin Kuutarhat (2024)
Morgam
Jupiterin kuutarhat is an EP recorded with a grant from the Culture and Art Association Kemi 2000.
The EP is a sci-fi journey that combines musical styles of futuristic jazz music, electronic chamber music and impressionistic classical music.
The music was written by me, and finished with Henri Nilsén and Anni Mesilaakso from Morgam, Lumikehto and Mesilaakso.
Imaginations between Realms
Musical Illustration (2021)
Commissioned by PhD students from the University of Jyväskylä, "Imaginations Between the Realms" seeks to redefine Western philosophy in light of the value of imagination. The music therefore reflects this global synthesis of different stances towards existence.
